Blog

Our website was launched on August 15, 2025. One bonus of having a lab website is that I finally have a space that I can use as a blog. This is the place that I post revision history of my books, bits and pieces behind the scenes, and interesting stories (at least to me). Lab news and announcement will be provided via LinkedIn and Twitter. So, this section is purely An's corner.

Note: I don't use AI in any of my writing. All of my books, articles, posts are 100% written by me.

The Truth Behind Each Rejection

Tuesday, August 11, 2026
As commented by Seth Godin, "The truth is simpler: People who reject you or your work aren’t giving you the real reason. They’re simply inserting “here is where I write a few generic sentences to sound polite.” Read more here...

An Email and a Linkedin Post from a Reader of My Basic PK Book

Friday, August 7, 2026
(An, 8/7/2026) Two days ago I received a kind and thoughtful email from a reader of my basic PK book (“Essentials in Clinical Pharmacokinetics”), who recently joined FDA as an ORISE Fellow. He said that he wanted to reach out because “your book played a real role in getting me here. It brought me up to speed on PK/PD concepts faster than anything else I'd read”. Read More here...

(An, 7/22/2026) Today is a Good Day

Wednesday, July 22, 2026
Today I walked to downtown Iowa city at around noon to get some buffalo wings from the Buffalo Wild Wings (my favorite place) at the university capital mall. I ordered 20 wings, and the lady asked me if I am a faculty. I showed my IowaOne card and said yes. She said she does not know the details, but today is a faculty appreciation day(or teacher's day or something? I didn't hear clearly), so the charge of $27.49 + tax is waived. I got the wings for free?! This is like magic. I tipped her 5 dollars with a singing heart. On my way back to my office, a young girl passed by... Read More here...

I hope my PK books will outlive me on readers’ bookshelves.

Wednesday, May 13, 2026
I wrote a book review recently on my own PK books. I know, this is unusual. Most journals no longer take book review. The one which takes such type of manuscript rejected this book review since it is written by the book author (me). In this book review, I answered several "whys" and shared some behind the scene stories. If you are interested, read the full article here. Read more..

Her intention is to encourage women in science, particularly in pharmacy, and to support those who had to work harder to get here. Read More here...

A special reader who decided to become a model (for my PKPD books)

Thursday, April 16, 2026
Two days ago I received a long, thoughtful, and kind email from a reader who bought my two PK books and loves both. He said that he wishes he had these two books when he started his journey in PKPD back in 2018. He kindly offered to advertise my books on Linkedin and said that “I would be happy to volunteer as a model (à la Naomi Campbell 😂)...”. This morning I saw his linkedin post, sweet and lovely. Essentials in Clinical Pharmacokinetics - Book Revision History (up to March 2026)

Friday, March 13, 2026
This book was self-published via Amazon’s print on demand (POD). I make modifications whenever I find errors/typos in the book. So, it is a "living book". Readers would be able to know which version they have based on this history table and the printing date shown on the last page of the book you ordered. Recently, I updated the book (corrections made on March 1 2026). The revision history table is provided in this post. Read More here..

“Do you think AI/Robots will control the world one day?" - Opinion from a 9-year-old girl

Thursday, March 12, 2026
This was written by my 9-year-old daughter as a class assignment (I found it from her backpack last week). The topic is “Do you think Robots/AI will control the world one day?”. I blocked the solution she proposed. “The only way we can be saved is ….” - What are your thoughts & solutions? Read More here..
