I have been teaching a PharmD course “Pharmacokinetics and Dose Optimization” every spring semester since 2016. The class size ranges from 80 to 118 students. This is neither a simple course to teach nor an easy topic to learn because this clinically relevant course is math driven. Over the years, I put a lot of effort in developing the content, adjusting the pace, and coming up with outside examples to explain those hard-to-understand terms. I strongly believe that when people learn it in the right way, everyone can be good at PK.  After I taught this course several rounds, I developed a strong desire to write a single author pharmacokinetics (PK) textbook.  I started to write this book in late January 2024. Many late nights. Many weekends. This was not a trivial task, and I am glad that I made it. This book is an introductory level PK textbook. It provides essentials in clinical pharmacokinetics and serves as a useful tool for readers interested in this topic. This book has three parts : Part I (Chapters 1-4) covers fundamental concepts; Part II (Chapters 5-11) introduces dose optimization under various scenarios; and Part III (Chapters 12-16) covers biological products, including antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADC), antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs), small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy.

Highlights of This Book

There are two valuable aspects of my book:

• This book not only covers small-molecule drugs but also introduces biotherapeutic products, including monoclonal antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, ASOs, siRNAs, and CAR-T cell therapy.  Most of the existing PK textbooks focus on small-molecule drugs only. I consider Part III of my book a big advantage compared to other PK textbooks.
• This book was written in an unconventional way, with the goal of being engaging and informative. In this book, I provided many case examples, magazine interviews, interesting real-world stories, etc, making this book simple, fun, practical, and easy to follow.
