Dr. Tianrun “Terry” Yang (2002 PhD in Pharmaceutics) made a generous gift to University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. With the substantial donation, the Tianrun “Terry” Yang Family Pharmaceutics Scholarship, an endowed account, has been established this week.
Terry is a scientist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist whose journey reflects the power of education and perseverance. Originally from China, Terry began his academic career at the University of Iowa, earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry before completing a PhD in Pharmaceutics under the mentorship of Gilbert S. Banker and Vijay Kumar. After graduating in 2002, Terry advanced through leadership roles at pharmaceutical companies. Since 2014, he started founding or co-founding pharmaceuticals ventures, building a successful portfolio of generic drugs.
Deeply grateful for the opportunities provided by the University of Iowa, Terry created this fund to support Chinese students with financial need pursuing their education here. Through this initiative, he hopes to help others achieve the American dream, just as he did.
